The Role
As our Applications Technician, you will work within the newly formed applications team. You’ll work within the applications team on metrology, microscopy, and help deliver demonstration projects in customer orientated projects. The team has only just formed so you’ll be an early member of the team with plenty of opportunity for growth inside Syenta, and gain experience in a wide array of technical skills.

Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Performing novel studies of the LEM process – Perform novel electrochemical depositions to advance the Syenta’s technical development and application to customers.
- Performing metrology studies on the novel LEM applications – To characterise the results from the LEM depositions using in-house and external equipment such as SEM, conductivity measurements, optical microscopy.
- Maintaining comprehensive data records – The world runs on data, ensure that data records maintained with highest level accuracy and completeness is critical.
- Lab Safety and Cleanliness – Conduct risk assessments, maintain lab operations to highest safety standards defined in Syenta.
- Experience: ≥ 1 year in a chemical lab and spectroscopy environment. Electrochemical experience and microscopy experience are highly regarded. Basic python and electronics knowledge a plus.
- Mindset: A “get stuff done” attitude, thriving in a fast-paced startup environment. Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and diligently keeping records is a must.
- Cross-Disciplinary Mindset – Most of the work will be in the form of chemical lab operations, but it will cross into electrochemical, electrical, and microscopy characterization.
- Growth-Oriented – You’re excited by the prospect of building expertise in electrochemistry, electronic engineering, and taking on increasing responsibilities as the organization scales, with room for advancement within the engineering organization.
- Wet chemical lab experience – You must have demonstrated experience in a wet chemical lab. This can be in form of an honours/masters research project or equivalent industry experience.
- Microscopy and Other metrology experience –Exposure and comfort with microscopy analysis, typical optical and confocal microscopy, electron microscopy, conductivity testing, and physical characterisations: adhesion testing, grain structure analysis.
- Electrochemical Experience – Exposure to electrochemical concepts especially electrochemical plating.
- Microfluidics Experience - Exposure to microfluidics concepts and applications.
- Mechanical and Electrical metrology experience – Conductivity testing, and physical characterisations: adhesion testing, grain structure analysis.
- Experience working in semiconductor-grade cleanroom environments.
- Data science skills – Have demonstrated performing simple programming tasks in python for data analysis.
